This series explores the fallibility of historical memory through the image of Jackie Kennedy and the pink suit she was wearing on the day of JFK’s assassination. Few images bear the weight of so many meanings and associations, and these compressed fabric constructions become a metaphor for the cultural forces to which her image has been subjected, resulting in its deformation and collapse. This work was completed with a 2020 Oregon Arts Commission grant and exhibited at Oregon Center for Contemporary Art in 2021.
